Packaging Ordinance
Packaging ordinance as of January 1, 2019: Your obligations
On January 1, 2019, the Act on the Avoidance and Recycling of Packaging Waste, or Packaging Act for short, came into force. It replaces the previously valid Packaging Ordinance of 1991.
If you as a manufacturer or retailer put goods into circulation whose packaging is disposed of as waste by the end consumer, you are responsible for taking back and recycling this packaging under the Packaging Act. Our goods are not licensed.
In practice, one of the dual systems, for example the Green Dot, takes over these tasks. To do this, however, you must register with the central office set up for this purpose (LUCID), provide them with the necessary details of the packaging you put into circulation and license your packaging with one of the dual systems.
If you wish, BFT Verpackungen GmbH will take over the licensing of the packaging you purchase from us. In this case, we will also transfer the disposal costs to the corresponding dual system. In any case, however, you remain obliged to report your packaging put into circulation to the Central Packaging Register.
